RODENT CONTROL, THE NATURAL WAY
If you're plagued by gophers, rats or mice on your property, why not invite a local barn owl family to take up residence in your neighborhood? Barn owls cost nothing, require no care and, as you'll see in our video, they are fascinating to watch.
DOWN THE HATCH
An adult barn owl will typically gulp down 2-3 rodents a night. And his growing family will bump that up to 10. So for a moderate-sized family, this translates to over 3000 rodents per year - gone forever from your property. Basically for free!
THE FARMER'S FRIEND
Modern farms often feature barn owl boxes installed on poles. In the old days barn owls would live in storage bins and barns and hunt in the prairie grasses, which have commonly been replaced by row crops.
ABOUT PELLETS
Owls have a fascinating digestive system. In our video you'll watch a month-old owlet (below left) gulp down a huge rat, complete and intact. Later that night, you'll see what's left - a little ball of fur, bones and teeth, coughed up (on camera!) in the form of a "pellet."
Pellets on the ground are a sure sign you've got owls. Schools purchase sterilized pellets for children to dissect, so they can learn what an owl has been eating.
